HAMDEN, CONNECTICUT (September 11, 2026) – Kennedy, Johnson, Schwab & Roberge, P.C. has filed a lawsuit against Hamden Hall Country Day School on behalf of a former teenage student and her parents, alleging that the private school failed to protect the student from sexual abuse by a former teacher.
The case is being handled by Michael Kennedy, a partner at Kennedy, Johnson, Schwab & Roberge, who represents survivors of childhood sexual abuse and other serious injuries throughout Connecticut. The lawsuit was filed in Connecticut Superior Court in New Haven.

Lawsuit Alleges Hamden Hall Failed to Protect Student
According to the lawsuit, former Hamden Hall teacher Stephen A. Listro developed an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student beginning in spring 2024. The complaint alleges school officials observed concerning behavior but failed to take adequate steps to protect the student.
Listro, 59, faces charges including second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He has pleaded not guilty. Hamden Hall has said it reported the matter to DCF, placed Listro on leave, investigated the allegations, and cooperated with authorities.
