Families often function as a single unit — everyone in the unit has their specific roles and responsibilities. Some families often wonder how they will cope or continue the day-to-day routines of life if they lose one of those members. Unfortunately for one Connecticut family, they are having to cope with the stark reality of life without a family ember after a fatal motorcycle accident took the life of a father of three.
On a Saturday afternoon in early September, a 34-year-old man was traveling on his motorcycle. According to police reports, he was struck by an elderly woman who was attempting to make a turn. He died approximately four hours later at a local hospital.
The condition of the elderly woman is currently unknown. Police officers report that no files have been filed at this point. However, the incident is still under investigation, and charges could still be filed. A spokesperson for the police department noted that these types investigation frequently take some time to complete.
The unexpected death of anyone is tragic, but the tragedy seems to be compounded when such a young man, the father of three children, is lost. As a result of his death, his family will likely have to cope with funeral expenses and medical bills in addition to the loss of the man’s income. In order to receive compensation for these burdens, this family could file a suit in a Connecticut civil court. If it can be proved that the driver’s negligence caused the accident, the family may be entitled to compensation for damages resulting from the motorcycle accident.
