What to do after an accident involving a deer in Connecticut

Thursday October 2, 2014

In our last post, we discussed how Connecticut drivers need to be on the lookout for deer in the roadways for the next several months as collisions involving deer are expected to be on the rise.

In fact, State Farm insurance reported that Connecticut drivers have a 1 in 256 chance of hitting a deer this fall and early winter, which is a higher risk than the national average.

Hitting a deer can be a traumatic and expensive ordeal to go through, and typically costs an average of $3,888, as we reported in the last post. But the situation can get even more serious if a deer in the road causes a chain-reaction accident or a head-on collision.

When this happens, all drivers involved can be stuck trying to figure out who was to blame and how to be compensated for their injuries and property damage. The drivers involved may think that they can count on their insurance companies to represent their interests, but this isn’t how it works; insurance companies have their own best interests in mind.

That’s why the drivers and passengers involved in accidents caused by deer or other wildlife in the roadways are best off speaking with an experienced personal injury lawyer. These cases can be complicated, especially when multiple vehicles involved, which is why it’s vital to have a lawyer acting on your behalf.

Our firm has been representing victims of car accidents since 1988, and we always fight for our clients’ maximum compensation. To read more about our practice and the various types of accidents we can help with, please visit our Connecticut Motor Vehicle Accidents Attorney page.
