Car accidents have been known to occur without warning most of the time. Every year, millions of people are injured in motor vehicle accidents. Just about every time, the accident is preventable. Whether someone should have stopped at a stop sign or reduced his or her speed, most accidents can be prevented. Last week, a three-car accident near Orange, Connecticut that injured two may have been prevented if the driver was paying more attention.
The car accident happened after a 19-year-old man lost control of his jeep upon colliding with another car. The teen then proceeded to hit the rear of another car, which caused his jeep to roll, before ultimately striking a utility pole. The driver of the jeep had to be extricated from the car while the passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries. Police are still investigating the crash.
In many rear-end collisions, the driver who struck the other car from the rear is often to blame for the accident. As drivers, we are required to leave enough space between the vehicles in front of us. Anytime someone fails to do this, they may be guilty of negligent driving. Negligent drivers typically can be held responsible for any damages or injuries they cause, including injury to their passengers. As passengers, we expect that our drivers drive safely. Whether it be a public bus or driving with a friend, the driver is responsible for his or her passengers.
Connecticut residents injured by a negligent driver may be eligible to be awarded compensation for injuries that they sustain. In general, if an accident is preventable, usually someone is to blame.
