Motorcyclist injured in Plainfield crash

Monday April 8, 2013

As spring starts to show its face in Connecticut, many people are anxious to get outside and enjoy the warmer weather. For some people, there is no better way to shake off a long winter than hopping on a motorcycle and going out for a cruise. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents become much more common as the weather warms up. And when a car collides with a motorcycle, the motorcyclist rarely escapes unscathed.

On Saturday, a Plainfield motorcyclist was hit by a car and thrown from his bike. It’s not exactly clear how the collision occurred, but the driver of the car said he was turning left when something hit his vehicle. Then, he noticed the motorcyclist in the street. The 26-year-old biker suffered injuries in the collision and was taken to a hospital in Norwich for treatment.

Many car vs. motorcycle accidents fit this description. Often, the driver of the car claims they didn’t see the motorcycle or that it came out of nowhere. Some people even blame motorcyclists for driving unsafe vehicles. Motorcyclists, however, are allowed to use the roads just like everyone else — and drivers need to remember to look out for them. As investigators look into this collision, it will be interesting to see what they determine.

If an investigation shows that the driver was at fault in this collision, the motorcyclist may have grounds for a personal injury lawsuit. Injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident can be very expensive, and a personal injury suit can lead to compensation for medical expenses and other damages related to a car accident. A personal injury attorney can help an accident victim get started.
