Car crash in Connecticut seriously injures 2 pedestrians

Saturday December 28, 2013

Sidewalks are a wonderful way for cities to keep their pedestrians safe. Most people walking on one feel relatively safe from becoming involved in a car crash despite the traffic that may be going by. However, an unfortunate accident in Connecticut has left two female pedestrians with serious injuries after being struck by a car.

The accident occurred in the morning in late November. Police claim that a 54-year-old female driver drove through a fence and small tree before striking two pedestrians. Police believe both pedestrians were on a sidewalk, and at least one of them was waiting for a bus.

Both women were transported to an area hospital. One woman was receiving CPR, and her injuries are considered life-threatening. The driver was uninjured. Currently there is no information on any charges filed against the driver; however, the accident remains under investigation.

While authorities determine what exactly caused the accident and what criminal charges may be appropriate, the two woman likely face a long road to recovery and lengthy hospital stays. As a result, they may have to miss work which could result in lost wages that will make it difficult to pay the high medical bills they will likely receive. In order to help with the expenses stemming from the car crash, the women have the option of filing a personal injury claim in a Connecticut civil court. They could receive a monetary award to help with the costs stemming from the accident if the court rules in their favor.
