How one accident causes another in Connecticut

Sometimes, people who are driving by the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Connecticut are tempted to slow down and look at the scene. Occasionally, they even decide to stop. While slowing and stopping to help the injured is noble, gawking at accidents can be dangerous, as it may lead to more accidents in the same area.

For example, take a look at a crash that happened on Oct. 12, 2014. According to the police, there was an accident near Crystal Mall, out on I-95. After the wreck, a number of other cars had slowed down in the area. Another truck coming up the road did not stop, however, and it plowed into three of those vehicles.

The main damage was to the first car to be hit. In that car, two adult passengers were injured, along with a child who is nine years old. Another young child, who was just two years old, was killed, despite being in a car seat. The injured were taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

The first accident had involved a bus and four vehicles. Despite that, only minor injuries were reported. The second crash ended up being far more devastating.

It is important for people who have been involved in car accidents to understand exactly how they tend to happen, as knowing this can help determine who was at fault. It is necessary to figure this out, from a legal perspective, because the determination of fault directly plays into who has a right to compensation after the crash if there were injuries or if anyone was killed.
