Three pedestrians injured in car accident in Connecticut

Car accidents have long been a major problem on the roads in the United States. Car accidents can occur on any road and in any town, city or state. There can be many different possible causes of car accidents. Although distracted driving is the leading cause of car accidents in U.S., there are other various causes of accidents including, but not limited to, drunk driving, driving while texting, weather related accidents and more.

Recently, a car hit three pedestrians in Connecticut, sending them all to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses say that the car crashed into two women and one young boy. dragging all three nearly fifty feet. The driver was subsequently arrested by Connecticut police.

Car accidents have become an increasing problem in the USA. In 2011 alone, 32,479 fatal car accidents were reported nationwide. The fatalities increased to 33,561 in 2012, a rise of 3.3 percent. Additionally, approximately 2.36 million were also injured in car accidents making a rise of 6.5 percent in car accident related injuries from 2011.

Bearing in mind the dire statistical numbers, motor vehicle laws are very strict. A driver involved in a car accident may face severe penalties, including revocation or suspension of their driving license, heavy fines or even prison. Severity of the punishment imposed by the court may depend on prior criminal history of the driver, fault of the driver such as drunk driving or other factors. It may be difficult for the victims or their families to traverse the legal system all alone without a professional guide in these matters.
