School bus accident leaves Connecticut educator dead

On Behalf of | Apr 9, 2014 | Car Accidents

Morning rush hour in Hartford, Connecticut, can clog the roads with cars and school buses. Increased traffic increases the likelihood of car accidents caused by different factors, including negligence, potentially resulting in devastating outcomes.

A two-vehicle fatal crash near New Haven ended the life of a 64-year-old female private school dean, who had been an educator for 39 years. Investigators were not immediately aware of the accidents cause. Investigators, however, did not find speed or intoxication to be a cause for the accident. They also did not find any mechanical defects with either vehicle. One possibility that has not been ruled out, however, is the glare of the sun, which was low in the sky at the time of the accident

The school bus was carrying more than a dozen students and a 23-year-old bus driver who did not report any injuries. Authorities are still investigating the incident and are asking witnesses to come forward with any witnessed details.

Vehicular accidents can occur because of inherent road risks. All motorists share the responsibility of exercising caution while driving to avoid traffic accidents. Negligence, such as excessive speed, failure to yield, inattention, drunk driving and failure to maintain a vehicle can compromise public safety.

A car accident can leave a victim with serious or fatal injuries. Unfortunately, the death of a loved one because of another party’s negligence is emotionally devastating and comes with costly repercussions, including medical expenses, funeral costs and damages.

The victim or the victim’s family may file a lawsuit against a reckless driver and seek compensation to recover damages. A Hartford legal professional can help establish the cause of the accident and prove the liability of a negligent driver.
