Car careens into Connecticut gas station, injures 4

Wednesday April 9, 2014

Car accidents cause injury and death in Connecticut and around the country on a daily basis. Too often, injuries and fatalities in automobile accidents are caused by reckless driving involving drinking. Those who are caught recklessly operating a motor vehicle will likely have to deal with serious consequences. Alcohol can severely inhibit the motor functions of individuals and decrease their ability to drive a car safely.

Connecticut police reported that a 30-year-old woman was driving toward an exit ramp too quickly when her car went into the air, smashing into a column at a local gas station and convenience store. The car also caught fire. According to officials, when the woman lost contol of the car, she also hit other cars at the bottom of the exit ramp. It was reported that three other vehicles were damaged in the car accident, as was the building. Four people were taken to the hospital.

According to police, the woman was intoxicated at the time of the accident and had a suspended license as well, police said. The fire that occured because of the accident, was put out by a good samaritan. None of the injuries to the victims were serious.

Despite the fact that Connecticut places harsh penalties on individuals who are charged with reckless and intoxicated driving, many individuals continue to drive dangerously. When a driver causes personal injury, death or property damage, the harmed party has a right to be compensated for their losses, suffering and pain. Many types of general damages may be awarded, including compensation for medical bills, loss of income, and disability.
