Car accident injures six people near New Haven

Driving an automobile requires one’s utmost attention because any wrong move can put the safety of many others at risk. Many New Haven, Connecticut, drivers are aware of these risks in the road; however, there are still others who fail to exercise caution while driving.

Recently, a car accident in Middletown, Connecticut left several teenagers, a mother and her two 5-year-olds seriously injured. According to police, the early morning crash occurred when a northbound pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old, crossed the median and collided with a compact sport utility vehicle driven by a 42-year-old mother.

The driver of the pickup and his two passengers were injured. The driver of the SUV and her children also suffered injuries. According to a police officer, the victims were transported to local hospitals and all are expected to survive.

An investigation into the incident is under way and authorities are asking witnesses to come forward with any information.

Car accidents can happen because of several reasons, including human and mechanical error and negligence. Dangerous behavior, such as drunk driving, speeding, failure to yield, inattention and poor automotive maintenance can lead to vehicular accidents. When that happens, there can be irreversible and devastating outcomes.
