Connecticut car crash kills 2, injures 1

On Behalf of | Mar 5, 2014 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

People speed down the streets and highways of Connecticut much too often. Excessive speed not only lessens the amount of reaction time but also decreases the ability to control the motor vehicle and increases the chance for fatalities.

Police in Connecticut reported that a high-speed car crash late one night killed two people and left one man in critical condition. Officials said that a white Buick Century was driving on a Connecticut street when it passed another car illegally. When the Buick passed the other car, it hit its side mirror.

After the Buick hit the side mirror, it lost control and crossed into the other lane. It then crashed into a snowbank and became airborne. The car came to a stop upside down. The victims of the automobile accident had to be taken out of the car by fire department personnel. It took rescue personnel almost an hour to free one of the victims.

According to reports, one man died at the hospital, and a woman died later from her wounds. A man, the third passenger, was reportedly in critical condition at another local hospital.

The crash is still under investigation, but officials said that there was speeding involved. The force of an impact in a car accident is much stronger the faster the vehicle is traveling. The chances of being killed or seriously injured also increases dramatically when cars are speeding.

Unfortunately, many car crashes that involve speeding end in fatalities. Survivors or families seeking compensation for their trauma or the wrongful death of a loved one may want to speak with an attorney with experience handling this type of claim.
