Fatal car accident in Connecticut likely caused by speed

Everyone knows the effect of being around good friends. Occasionally, people act in ways that are out of character as they get caught up in the moment. Usually such behavior is harmless, but it does have the potential of turning deadly when it results to poor decisions while driving. Such a tendency could have been the cause of a fatal car accident in Connecticut that police believe resulted from speeding.

In the early morning hours of early February, three people were traveling in a sedan through a residential area. Police claim the 24-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle because of his speed. As a result, the car he was driving slammed into a tree. All three of the car’s occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle due to severe damage.

Everyone in the car was transported to the local hospital for treatment. The driver and a 26-year-old female passenger are both expected to survive. However, a 25-year-old male, seated in the front passenger seat at the time of the collision, later died from the injuries he suffered in the accident. Police continue to investigate the accident at this time.

While it is not unusual for drivers to ignore posted speed limits, such an action puts the lives of everyone on the road in jeopardy. As a result of this driver’s alleged decision to ignore the speed limit, a Connecticut family is coping with the loss of the their family member. Many people who have lost a loved one in a fatal car accident have sought compensation for damages related to the accident in a civil court. In many cases, those who have successfully proven that their loved one’s death came as a result of another person’s negligence were awarded a monetary sum in order to reimburse them for the costs of the accident allowed by state law, including medical bills, funeral costs and lost wages.
