Connecticut car crash could result in wrongful death case

Roadways are not just for motor vehicles. The roads are frequently shared with cyclists and pedestrians. No matter the mode of transportation, everyone must strive to ensure the safety of others. Failure to do so can result in serious injury or death, such as in a recent incident in Connecticut. A car crash took the life of a pedestrian.

According to police reports, a 53-year-old man was on the shoulder of a Connecticut road during the evening in early February. As he walked, he was apparently struck by a vehicle. While it does not appear that the driver was injured, the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Although police have publicly stated that the accident did not appear to be caused by alcohol or speed, they are continuing their investigation. Part of the road where the accident took place was closed while officers reconstructed the scene. Police have requested that anyone who may have information regarding the incident to contact them.

News of the loss of a loved one is almost always emotionally devastating to surviving family members. Beyond the emotional toll, the family may also face significant financial concerns. In this case, the family of the car crash victim will face funeral costs and burial costs, among other damages. However, if the family can prove to a Connecticut civil court that the accident was caused by the driver's negligence, they could be awarded a monetary judgment to help with the expenses created by the fatal accident.
