1 killed, 2 seriously injured in Connecticut car crash

Many drivers strive to maintain everyone's safety on the roadways. They follow all the speed limits and traffic signals, refuse to talk on the cell phone and ignore other driving distractions. Unfortunately, despite personal attempts to maintain safety, the actions of others are sometimes unavoidable. For example, two people injured in a Connecticut car crash were likely unable to avoid the serious accident.

The accident occurred at night in early February. Police claim that a 44-year-old male driver was driving the wrong way on Roue 7 in Brookfield. As a result, the vehicle he was driving slammed head-on into a vehicle driven by a 39-year-old male.

Unfortunately, the driver of the first vehicle died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the second vehicle and his 29-year-old passenger were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both vehicles reportedly sustained significant damage.

The consequences of being injured in a car crash are often long-term. Those who have suffered such injuries often require a relatively lengthy stay in the hospital, often followed by rehabilitation. This treatment can result in significant medical bills and render the injured victim unable to work, making their financial situation precarious. In order to try to cope with the expenses stemming from the accident, the injured victims in this case have the option of filing a personal injury claim in a civil court. If they provide evidence to show the other driver's negligence caused the accident, they could be granted a monetary award for damages allowed under Connecticut law.
