Hit-and-run accident ends life of Connecticut woman

People in one community in Connecticut are grieving following a car accident that took the life of a promising young woman. The accident occurred in Greenwich, Connecticut, which is west of New Haven.

According to the report, a car crash occurred in a parking lot where a 21-year-old woman was hit by a car. Reports stated that the victim was getting something out of her vehicle when a red Pontiac drove through the parking lot and struck her. Police claimed that after the impact, the driver of the Pontiac paused and drove off, dragging the young woman under the vehicle for more than one block. Unfortunately, the car accident victim succumbed to her injuries.

Police immediately conducted an investigation and searched for the hit-and-run vehicle. The investigation ended when the red Pontiac, driven by a 26-year-old man, returned to the parking lot where the accident occurred. The alleged hit-and-run driver was there, not to surrender, but to go to work.

The suspect was taken into custody by the authorities. He was charged with second-degree manslaughter and evading responsibility in connection to the fatal car accident. He pleaded not guilty to the charges but remains in jail with bond set at $500,000.

Negligent drivers are a serious threat to any Connecticut resident. Drivers can be considered negligent if they drive without consideration for the safety of others on the road. Negligent drivers who cause a fatal car accident may be criminally and civilly liable for their actions.

Loss of life that results from a driver’s negligent action is certainly heartbreaking for the victim’s family. Fortunately, there are legal options available that may help them recover from the economic losses caused by the crash.
