Motorcyclists suffers severe injuries in Connecticut accident

There are many different type of vehicles on the road today. As technology improves and gas prices increase, the roadways are filled with alternatives to the traditional automobile. As a result, traditional motorists need to take extra measures in order to preserve the safety of everyone who uses the road, including those on motorcycles, mopeds and bicycles. Failure to do so could result in severe injuries to those on these alternative vehicles. One recent accident in Connecticut has shown the dangers of a collision between a sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle.

The accident occurred in the afternoon of an early November day. Police believe that the westbound driver of an SUV may have been turning into a gas station parking lot. An eastbound motorcyclist then struck the right rear panel of the SUV.

The 71-year-old motorcyclist were severe enough to warrant being airlifted for medical care. The 18-year-old driver of the SUV was treated at a local hospital and released. No charges have been filed at this as police continue to investigate the accident. Authorities have requested that anyone who may have seen the accident to contact them.

Treatment for severe injuries such as the ones sustained by the motorcyclist is often lengthy and expensive. In addition to medical bills, the motorcyclist may have to miss work as he recovers. If the man can prove that the negligence of the driver of the SUV caused the accident, filing a personal injury claim in a Connecticut civil court might be a good option. A verdict in his favor could provide him with a monetary award for damages to help alleviate the stresses created by the accident’s unexpected financial burdens.
