During times of warm weather, there is usually more traffic on the roads that is not the normal mode of transportation. For example, there are more pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists who take advantage of warmer temperatures. Unfortunately because they are sometimes more difficult to see and have less protection than those in a traditional motor vehicle, the chances of a fatal accident increases. For example, a Connecticut man has recently lost his life in a motorcycle accident.
In early September in the afternoon, a 50-year-old one man was enjoying the warm temperatures by traveling on his motorcycle. According to police reports, he was traveling on a residential street. A sports utility vehicle pulled out of a private driveway and struck the motorcycle.
Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation into the incident continues, and no charges have been filed. Police urge anyone with information regarding the accident contact them.
While the vast majority of the country was celebrating a major holiday this weekend, the family of this man spent the day planning his funeral. Unfortunately in circumstances such as this, the surviving family members also have to cope with the financial ramifications of such a motorcycle accident. At the very least, the family will have to deal with the cost of a funeral. In many cases, the family is also impacted by the loss of the man’s income; however, the family can seek financial relief in a Connecticut civil court. If they can prove that the man’s death was caused by the driver’s negligence, they could receive a monetary award to cover the costs associated with the accident.
