Connecticut man’s on-the-job death ruled accidental

On Behalf of | Sep 12, 2013 | Workplace Injuries

Factories, warehouses, and construction sites are notorious for workplace injuries. The work environment can be a dangerous place, which is a risk that many employees within certain industries accept. However, there is a degree of risk to expect and a certain degree not to expect. It is when the unanticipated happens that your life can be changed forever.

A Connecticut man died in a workplace accident, after being trapped under a snowplow at a commercial building there one afternoon. According to the state medical examiner’s office, an autopsy determined that the man died from traumatic asphyxia and chest compression. His death was ruled accidental.

The workplace accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. An inspector from OSHA’s Connecticut office was sent to the accident scene the day it happened. OSHA will be looking into any possible workplace dangers or violations that may have contributed to the accident. The Connecticut Police Department is treating the incident as an untimely death and according to officials, there was no evidence at the scene to indicate criminal behavior.

On the job injuries occur on a daily basis. When people have been involved in workplace accidents their lives can change dramatically. Serious injuries can have a damaging impact on their ability to participate in everyday activities such as work and caring for a family. People are entitled to be compensated for these losses. Often these losses go uncompensated because victims are unaware of what is compensable and what is not.

Losing someone you love in a workplace mishap can cause emotional and financial pain for years to come. While the procedure for receiving compensation for your loss is never easy, it can be less complex by having an experienced attorney working for you.
