Another man dies in car accident near New Haven

On Behalf of | Aug 27, 2013 | Car Accidents

All states have their fair share of accident-prone areas. Connecticut’s roads are no exception and have been the scene of some horrid car accidents. In many cases, however, these accidents are caused not by dangerous road conditions but by negligent drivers.

A recent auto accident that occurred on I-95 in Orange, Connecticut, near New Haven, caused the death of one man and serious injuries to another. Reportedly, the Branford man died when his car, heading in the wrong direction on the interstate, hit an oncoming vehicle head-on. He was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

According to police, the Branford man was driving the wrong way on I-95, and the vehicle’s headlights were not visible because they had been damaged in a previous incident. The impact of the two vehicles shoved the victim’s car three lanes over onto the highway’s right shoulder. The case remains open, and an accident investigation is ongoing.

Though the accident is still under police investigation, negligence may have been a cause. It is tragic that a man lost his life, but the car accident may have been caused by his own negligence. If so, the victim who sustained serious injuries should not have to shoulder the financial burdens of his medical expenses, lost wages and other damages.

Those who have personal injury concerns should research all of their legal options. With an experienced attorney’s help, victims can try to recover the compensation that is commensurate with their expenses and their pain and suffering.
