Elderly Connecticut woman injured in hit-and-run

On Behalf of | Jul 24, 2013 | Motor Vehicle Accidents

When a hit and run crash occurs, accident victims are often overwhelmed and unable to think clearly. Hit and run accidents often result in serious physical injuries, which may result in long term disabilities and require expensive medical treatments.

An elderly Connecticut woman was walking home from a local gas station when a car backed over her. She was knocked unconscious by the car, which had Massachusetts plates. Time and details are extremely important when it comes to hit and run accidents. The sooner you can provide information about your accident, the sooner an investigation can start to help you locate the driver who hit you.

After the automobile accident, two men got out of the vehicle and looked at the woman. A gas station attendant said the men even tried to place her in an upright, seated position before driving off.

The woman was reported to have been in the hospital for a week with severe injuries. She still has back pain, headaches and memory loss. Before the accident, she used to run errands and go shopping by herself. Now she walks with the aid of a cane.

Police have arrested the owner of the car but they have not found the suspect who was driving. Police have been searching for the driver since March.

Hit-and-run accidents cause thousands of injuries and fatalities every year. Hit and run accidents are typically involve a driver who is at fault and flees from the scene of the accident, instead of staying to exchange information with the other people involved in the accident. It is a criminal offense to leave the scene of an accident, and it is punishable by law. A victim of a hit-and-run accident has the right to file a lawsuit and show the negligent driver that their illegal action is unacceptable. A hit and run accident requires a knowledgeable personal injury attorney as well.
