Car crash in Connecticut leaves 4 teens injured

Four teens out for an evening of wilderness fun inside a state forest didn't have the good time they were hoping for. All four were injured in the car crash that saw their pickup truck strike a tree just outside the Connecticut state park. State and local police are looking into the accident further, and no charges have been filed at this time.

According to eyewitness reports, the four teens were travelling along a county road heading for Nehantic State Forest when their vehicle suddenly left the road. The pickup truck struck a tree head-on. Police suspect that unsafe speeds may have contributed to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses say at least one of the vehicle's occupants was ejected from the pickup truck upon impact. Two of the teens were transported to a local hospital where they were treated for presumably minor injuries and released. One young woman was taken by airlift to another local hospital with injuries, the extent of which is not known at this time. A fourth passenger, a young man, was rushed to a separate hospital and is listed as being in serious condition at the time of this writing.

Young people are sometimes brash in their decision making, and sometimes those poorly thought-out decisions can lead to tragedy. This seems to be the case in this car crash, which police believe was the result of speeding. Depending on the specifics of this case, the other injured parties in the vehicle or their legal guardians may be able to seek a personal injury law suit against the driver or the driver's guardians dependent upon age. These suits would be handled by a Connecticut civil court and would require the attendance of any and all legal adult guardians involved.
