3 killed, 2 injured in Route 2 crash in Norwich

On Behalf of | Mar 6, 2013 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents

A week ago today, three people were killed in a tragic car accident on Route 2 near Preston. Two others were injured in the single-car crash. According to Norwich police, the car left the road near a turn at which the speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph.

As of right now, investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash. They have determined that neither excessive speed nor weather played a role in the fatal car accident. A police sergeant said potential causes could include car malfunction, driver fatigue or a medical emergency suffered by the driver. A local shop owner said she has witnessed several car accidents on the same part of the road as this one.

A car accident like this one is heartbreaking in every aspect. Several families are left to cope with the sudden and unexpected loss of a loved one, while two other people are fighting to recover from serious injuries. On top of their physical and emotional struggles, all of these people will likely face steep expenses related to the crash. For the families of those who died, that may come in the form of hospital expenses and funeral costs. Those who survived will also be stuck with expensive medical bills as well as the possibility of lengthy recovery time and missed work.

Although we don’t often think of these aspects of a car accident, they can leave families and accident victims with debilitating debt through no fault of their own. While it may not be at the top of a family or victim’s mind, a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit against a driver who caused a crash may be appropriate after a car accident. An experienced personal injury attorney can help explain your options.
