Man dies in car accident near New Haven, Connecticut

Car accidents are very common everywhere and New Haven, Connecticut, is no exception. A number of people die or suffer serious injuries in car crash incidents every year. A big portion of these fatalities occur where two or more vehicles are involved in the accident.

Recently, a Waterbury man died in a two-car crash in Oxford, Connecticut. The victim, who was driving, had stopped the vehicle at a stop sign. After he turned and started driving again, another car hit his vehicle on the driver’s side. The impact of the crash was so powerful that the victim’s car took a 180-degree spin before finally coming to rest.

The victim had to be extracted from the vehicle and he was transported to Waterbury Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger in the victim’s car sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital.

Oftentimes, speeding is a contributing factor in car accident cases like these. Speeding near stop signs and intersections may prove fatal. It may result in a devastating crash that may cause serious injury and death to drivers and passengers of other cars.

Car drivers need to be very attentive, especially in accident-prone areas. A small amount of negligence or a mistake may drastically affect the lives of others. Drivers should obey all traffic safety rules to avoid a mishap.

Drivers who do not pay attention to the safety of others may face dire consequences. They can be sued for personal injury in a civil court. Victims or their family members can seek compensation for medical expenses, loss of income, disability and rehabilitation costs. Dependents or family members of the deceased victim may also seek compensation for mental anguish and pain and suffering due to the loss of a loved one.
