Possible wrongful death case after car crashes in Connecticut

Climbing into a car driven by someone else requires a certain degree of trust. A passenger is depending on that person to get them to his or her destination safely. When such a trust is broken by negligent behavior on the part of the driver, legal recourse can be sought. If a life is lost as a result, the family members of the deceased have the option of filing a wrongful death case in a Connecticut civil court. The family members of one man may be considering that option after a tragic car accident killed one and injured two.

Three people were traveling in a sedan in the early morning hours of an early February day. Unfortunately, the car then struck a hair salon. The front passenger died at the scene. The driver is still hospitalized but is expected to live. A third occupant has been treated and released.

Reports indicate that the building was significantly damaged but still inhabitable for those who lived in apartments above the salon. Traffic was expected to be affected for several hours. It is unclear at this time what caused the accident, but more details will likely become available as police continue their investigation.

A successfully pursued wrongful death case in this situation could help the deceased man's family deal with the financial impact of the his death. For example, they may have to cope with funeral expenses, in addition to the loss of the man's wages. With any fatality or serious injury related to a car accident, if it can be proven that the accident was caused by another party's negligence, a Connecticut civil court could order that monetary damages be paid to assist with such costs.
