Connecticut man on scooter hit by truck

Connecticut traffic laws are enforced to keep drivers safe and secure. Each state has its own laws related to aspects of driving, so it's important to be familiar with how the rules apply in your home state. Drivers of motor vehicles in Connecticut and all over have a responsibility to share the road with all types of vehicles and to exercise a reasonable level of caution towards them.

An accident occurred in Connecticut in the morning hours involving a truck and scooter. Police said a 76-year-old man was hit on his scooter by an unlicensed driver, who was arrested after the accident.

The man was taken to the hospital after the motor vehicle accident and was said to be in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old man, had no license, but the truck was appropriately registered and insured, police said. Police said the man ran a stop sign just before he hit the scooter. Investigators said the man driving the scooter had the right-of-way.

Police arrested the 25-year-old man and charged him with operating a vehicle without a license. He was also given a stop sign violation. Police said that charges could be upgraded if the injured man's condition changes.

Speeding and ignoring stop signs in Connecticut are serious offenses. There is a great danger posed to others by driving faster than the law permits. Police said there is a greater risk to people riding scooters because motorists have a hard time seeing them. They advise people who use scooters to always wear a helmet and use signals, lights and horn.

If the actions of an individual operating a truck, car or other motor vehicle were careless, that negligent individual could be responsible for damage. Those damages might include compensation for pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost wages and other claims. Personal injury attorneys can advise victims and their families of the best course of action.
