Fatal car accidents place Connecticut teens at high risk

With little experience on the road, it is no secret that teens are at a higher risk for being involved in a car accident then older adults. Two fatal car accidents that took the lives of three Connecticut teens recently have reinforced this fact. In a recent release it was found that August and Summer serve as two of the deadliest months for teen drivers.

Nationally, it was reported that in July and August of 2011 there were a total of 273 and 312 teen deaths respectively. Safety officials have stated that this is because of the higher number of teens who are operating motor vehicles during these months as a result of most teens being out of school. Fatal car accidents, according to a recent study, account for the highest rate of deaths for those aged 15-20.

Connecticut citizens were recently reminded of this devastating fact in recent weeks when three teens were killed. Two brothers, along with a 17-year-old girl, were killed when cars they were in became involved in single vehicle accidents. Both cases were ruled accidents where teenagers were at the wheel.

No matter how young or old a Connecticut resident is, if they are considered the cause of a car accident they can be held responsible. Victims' families who lost loved ones as a result of these fatal car accidents may be able to pursue a wrongful death action if they feel that their child was not responsible for the crash. This suit may allow them to be compensated as they try and deal with the extreme grief that has come as a result of the loss of their child.
