Connecticut bicyclist hit by car

A Connecticut man was riding his bicycle home from work when he was hit by a car. Police said the man was hit by a 2005 Jeep Liberty in the early morning hours.

Police said the man was riding on the street around 2:25 a.m. when the jeep hit him from behind, demolishing his bicycle and leaving him with numerous injuries. Police said the car stopped for a short time, made a U-turn and sped off down the street in the direction from which it had come.

A car accident can be very jarring. Car accidents are common, which regrettably means that hit-and-run accidents are also common. Hit-and-run accidents are not only between cars, as in this situation. If you ever end up being amid the many hit-and-run victims in this country, your first response will probably be to panic. Attempt to call for help, try to recognize the make and model of the other car and notice if there are witnesses.

The police finally caught up with the driver of the car when they followed a trail of antifreeze that led them to the driver's home. Upon arriving there, they found the car with heavy damage to the right front end and windshield. The driver, a woman, was arrested on the spot and charged with evading responsibility, driving while intoxicated, and interfering with an officer. The woman was released on a $25,000 non-surety bond, police said.

If the actions of another individual operating an automobile or other motor vehicle were careless, that negligent individual could be responsible for damages. Damages can include a personal injury caused by his actions for any pain and suffering, loss of wages, catastrophic injuries, and medical expenses. To determine the negligence of another, it is important that investigators immediately locate witnesses and obtain statements. A legal professional should coordinate a detailed investigation into the accident and then recommend the best course of legal action to take.
