David Johnson grew up near Chicago, Illinois. After attending the United States Naval Academy for two years, he completed college at the University of Illinois majoring in Astronomy.

While attending law school, he served as an intern with the Illinois Department of Corrections and stayed on as Staff Attorney upon graduation, defending prison guards and wardens against civil rights cases brought by inmates. He served as lead counsel in a ten week trial defending the adequacy of medical care available to prisoners at the Illinois maximum security prison, Menard Correctional Center.

In the Fall of 1978, Mr. Johnson moved to Connecticut, taking a job with the law firm which would eventually be known as Walsh, Rozen, Johnson & Kennedy. For the next ten years, he practiced personal injury law exclusively, representing both injured plaintiffs and tortfeasors on behalf of their insurance companies. The defense work gave him valuable insight into how to better handle plaintiffs’ claims in order to maximize the chance for a good recovery and provide a vehicle for gaining additional jury trial experience.

On December 1, 1998, Mr. Johnson formed Kennedy & Johnson with John Kennedy. Since that time, he has practiced solely on behalf of injured plaintiffs, including medical malpractice, professional negligence and product liability cases. He has handled many important cases including trying to verdict several cases which involved awards in excess of one million dollars.
